Prominent Gojri writer passes away | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: Prominent Gojri Poet and short-story writer Choudhary Abdul Rashid Bhatti was passed away today after a brief illness. He was 60 . His last funeral was attended by a number of people including writers, poets and artists of District Poonch at Hari Mehrote his native village located 7 Km away from Surankote town. In this connection a condolence meeting was held here which was organized here by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Academy headquarter in which rich tributes were paid to the departed soul and solidarity was expressed with the bereaved family. Two minutes silence was observed on the occasion and was prayed that may god shower his blessing on her in paradise. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Javaid Rahi , Chief Editor and Head of Gojri wing told that Ch Rashid Bhatti was a tallest short story writer and reputed Poet of Gojri language. His contributions for development of Gojri prose and poetry for Gojri Language and Culture will be remembered all time to come. Dr. Rahi said Ch .Rashid was a member of different committees of Academy and represented Gojri in and outside the state. Rashid had contributed a number of Book to Gojri Language. His latest collection of short stories entitled “ Sajri Soghat” got remarkable appreciation in literary circles. He was born in Hari Mehrote village in Poonch district in Bhatti Gujjar family. Other speakers who spoke about the contribution of late Rashid includes Shamima Ara Janbaz, Haroon Rashid Additional Secretaries, Farooq Anwar Mirza Chief Editor Pahari , Dr Shahnawaz Assistant Editor Gojri , and others
