DIG, 2 others apologise in contempt case | CM security officials cut sorry figure | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 24: DIG Rajesh Kumar, SP Fayaz Ahmed and SI Ranbir Singh have tendered apology in a contempt case initiated against them by additional district magistrate, Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan. The matter was taken to the high court after the three officers had failed to appear before the court of ADM, Kishtwar. The court on Tuesday droped the contempt proceedings against them after they tendered unconditional apology in the court of chief justice FM Ibrahim Khalifulla and Justice Virender Singh. The ADM had initiated contempt proceedings against the then SP Fayaz Ahmed and SI Ranbir Singh for their misbehavior with him during the Kishtwar visit of chief minister Omar Abdullah on February 8, 2010. ADM had later initiated criminal contempt proceedings and issued warrants against them which were served upon the then SSG director and DIG Rajesh Kumar for execution. Due to the non-compliance of his orders, SSG director was also found guilty of contempt by the ADM and thus the proceedings lunched against all the three. Fayaz Ahmed and SI Ranbir, who were present in the court, tendered an apology, and assured that no such thing would be repeated in future. The court in its order stated that when Rajesh Kumar Shavan was present in the court, Fayaz and Ranbir genuinely expressed their apology and Shavan was gracious enough to accept the same and expressed that the contempt proceedings (CR) No 3/2010 could be closed. It was made clear that this contempt should not cause any aspersion on the career of the officers. Ex-SSG director has already apologied before the court on the previous hearing. It is worthwhile to mention here that Fayaz and Ranbir of SSG had misbehaved with the ADM, Kishtwar, when he was performing his official duty during the CM's visit to Kishtwar. |
