| 5th Champions Trophy T20 Tourney gets underway | | Dhruv guides Simula to huge win in inaugural tie | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 25: Powered by a fabulous all-round show by first class cricketer Dhruv Mahajan, Simula Sports Club thrashed Ishar XI by a huge margin of 106 runs in the 5th Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, riding on a superb half century by Dhruv Mahajan, after batting first, Simula Club scored a mammoth total of 179/6 in the stipulated 20 overs. Dhruv remained top scorer with 54 runs, while Irshad contributed 29 runs to the total. Gulzar and Vivek Thappa also chipped in with unbeaten knocks of 20 runs each. Prince was the pick of the bowlers for Ishar XI, scalping 3 wickets by giving away 19 runs in his four overs. Deepak Dogra took 2 wickets by spending 16 runs in his quota of 4 overs, while talented young off-spinner Pavit claimed 1/35 in his four overs.
Ishar XI, in reply managed to score a paltry total of 73 runs in 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by a huge margin of 106 runs. Deepak Dogra contributed highest 16 runs to the total, while Gogi and Atul Sharma chipped in with 13 and 12 runs respectively. For Simula, Vivek Thappa scalped 3/13 in his four overs, while Dhruv Mahajan claimed 2/6 in his three overs.
The match was officiated by Yogesh Sharma and Anil as umpires, while Neeraj acted as the scorer, while the tournament is being organised by Simula Soft Wares under the supervision of Hilal Rather (Chairman Organising Committee), Rajesh Gill (Vice-Chairman), Rajesh Dhar (Convener Technical Committee) and Shashi Pal (Organising Secretary).
