Leh Srinagar record coldest winter night | | | Srinagar, Nov 25 : Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, and Leh in Ladakh region, experienced coldest night of the winter so far after the minimum temperature dipped further this morning.
Fresh Western Disturbances (WD), originating from Arabian sea, will touch the state tomorrow after crossing Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It was the coldest night so far in Srinagar after the minimum dipped to minus 0.7 degree celsius this morning, a Met department spokesman told UNI.
He said it was about one degree below normal.
Earlier, the coldest night was recorded on November 17, when the minimum was recorded at 1.7 degrees.
People, avoided moving out of their homes during the early morning hours because of severe cold.
The health resort of Pahalgam, base camp of Holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir, Himalayas also witnessed the coldest night of the season so far when the minimum dipped to minus 3.2 degrees.
Earlier, coldest night was on November 17, when the minimum was recorded at minus 2.4 degrees.
The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, which attracts hundreds of tourists, including locals, everyday, recorded minus 2.2 minimum degrees temperature this morning.
