President Patil offers prayers at Raghunath temple in Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 25 : President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today paid obeisance and offered special prayers at the famous Raghunath Temple in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Accompanied by Member of Parliament and Senior Congress leader Dr Karan Singh, Ms Patil this morning visited Raghunath Temple and performed special prayers.
"The president stayed for about 15 minutes in the temple and offered prayers. She was also briefed about the history of the temple by the members of the Trust," reliable sources told UNI.
They said Ms Patil later flew to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) to address the convocation where she distributed over 600 degrees and 19 medals among the scholars and students.
The President, who is on four-day visit to Jammu, arrived here last evening. During her stay, she would also attend ‘Dogra Rattan Awards’ felicitation function, inaugurate Spiritual Growth Centre at Katra and pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine tomorrow.
Ms Patil would leave for the national capital on November 27.
Tight security arrangements have been made with heavy deployment of policemen and para-military forces around the venues she has to visit and within the town and its peripheries.
