| Has coalition government adjusted only "blue-eyed" officers? | | Police Transfers | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 25: Eyebrows are being raised over yesterday's decision of the state government that went ahead with major reshuffle in state police department.
The state cabinet, which under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday, ordered transfers and postings of 22 officers including three Additional Director Generals of Police.
However, certain decisions while "accommodating" blue eyed officers have earned sheer criticism from within as well as outside the police department.
Surprisingly, among the officers who have been transferred and adjusted, there are some senior police officers who have not even completed even six months on chair. And reasons for shifting them are only known to Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress coalition government.
To begin with, State Vigilance Organization is considered to be the prestigious institution where honest and dedicated officers are adjusted to catch hold of corrupt officials. Interestingly, Omar led coalition without doing proper "homework" shifted IGP Vigilance, Z H Chisti as IGP Railways, J&K. Further, Deepak Kumar, who just six months back was posted as IGP, Hqrs, PHQ has been again posted as IGP, Vigilance. A simple question arises, why the duo was transferred few months ago and why they again have been shuffled? How Omar led coalition is judging the performance of the senior officers if they are not been given proper and minimum time of two years?
Astonishingly, IGP, Human Rights, Gulzar Singh Slathia has been posted as IGP Armed/IR Jammu. The said officer has also been picked within six months. "Whether he has made big achievements or tremendous progress and effort in Human Right wing or his services were urgently required in Armed/IR wing of state police are some of the queries being made within police circles," highly placed sources in police revealed to ET.
Another senior police officer, SSP, Doda Varinder Kumar Sharma has been transferred and posted as SSP Traffic, National Highway. Again the said officer has not completed even a term of one year as SSP, Doda. Doda district witnessed number of major road accidents in past one year.
Furthermore, SSP, Varinder Sharma will now be initiating his second innings in Traffic wing in less than a year's time period. "Has he got some specialization in controlling the road accidents or detecting and punishing those corrupt traffic police officers getting bribe to allow overloading in passenger vehicles? Has the government studied the performance of the said officer before adjusting him in Traffic wing for the second time?" are again some of the simple queries that needs to be answered by none other than the political personalities "running the show". |
