Growing public reaction towards unabated inflation
KHUSHWANT S RANIAL11/25/2011 11:45:35 PM
The senior most ,NCP stalwart now Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar was slapped by one person namely Har-vinder Singh of Rohini near Parliament Street in New Delhi on 24th of November 2011 has stirred the whole political scenario across the nation. In fact, the same accused had assaulted the convicted former Telecom Minister Sukh Ram outside a court in New Delhi as well around a week ago. Prior to it, there had been incident like throwing the shoes towards the politicians to express one's anguish .But this new attempt is truly a matter of deep concern and debate.
This uprising trend of the public reaction towards the politicians in the India in the recent years is a sign of alienation, losing trust, faith and casting doubt on the integrity of the politicians. To the sheer surprise ,Senior BJP politician namely Yashwant Sinha had predicted only a couple of days ago that if the rate of inflationary trend is not reversed in the forthcoming days ,then days are not far off when people will come on the streets to express their anguish. And exactly the same thing happened . His utterances held the water. What a coincidence. Should one call Yashwant Sinha a foreteller or a seasoned politician who had gauged the mood and nerve of the Public well before this incident? Whatever one may call it but one thing is clear that such sort of spate is not going to see the end in near future because the social awareness has enlightened the public of their rights.
The ever burgeoning gap between the rich and the poor section of the society has forced the people of this nation to come out of the shell and show the resentment. An ally of fear has gone from the minds of poor people. If someone is now daring to call the names and holding the collar of the shirt or slapping a senior politician in the broad day light ,it means that worst conditions have prevailed making the life of the general public a hell to live in prompting one to corner the politician who initially seek votes by projecting themselves as the messiahs of the poor people and then do otherwise by befooling the masses for the years together .So such an adopted mode of expression of one's anger is not astonishing .It would not be surprising if public in the near future drag these politicians out of their safe havens and dens , who seek votes for doing justice to the voter but do otherwise overlooking the promises made, after reigning in the power.
Someone has rightly said that 'As you sow, so shall you reap". This is the best example for these modern politicians to learn something and come out of the inhibited shell to mitigate the sufferings of the most under privileged classes rather than indulging in the cross accusations as have been observed in the ongoing stormy Winter Session, in the Parliament house in New Delhi, in which nothing useful has been discussed and nearly 08 crore business have been put at stake without caring for the state and society in the last three days only . The only motive behind the uproar seems to defame one another by indulging in unparliamentarily verbal duels .Who shall bear the burden of such huge losses? But who bothers and cares.
More surprisingly, when it came to security concern, all the chameleons got together on the single platform to denounce the attack of the accused and narrated the incident as undemocratic mean of expression of one's anger. But when it comes to loot the national exchequer, then no one cries hoarsely to show solidarity .It exemplifies the crooked approach of every politician towards their application of mind in saving the nation from the cruel clutches of beggars and termite. Today what is happening around is not the result of one day's provocation but the outcome of hardships and sufferings of 65 years of cruel dealings of these dishonest class, who have sold this nation which itself is evident from the surfacing of outnumbered scams and stashing of ill gotten money into the Swiss and other foreign banks. It is natural phenomena that one cannot keep ugly malpractices in dark for the years together and whenever such things gets exposed, reactions are bound to take place . In other words, where there is a smoke, fire is bound to follow and who suffers burn injuries is immaterial but it is sure that who are in the net of such a fire, they irrespective of their character are bound to face the warmth of that fire.
Although democracy gives everyone a right to live in free atmosphere and offer opportunity to express one's feelings without any coercion of fear but such an action is absolutely condemnable and it has no place in the democratic set up. Violence has no place in the democracy. The liberty must not be misused for projecting one's cause in this hostile manner. Law of the land is supreme and its supremacy should not be challenged and remain intact. No one must be allowed to take the law into one's own hand otherwise such perpetuation will vitiate the surrounding social milieu. There are so many other democratic means to throw the elected representative out of the well of the house if he/she fails to deliver as per his commitments made during his stay in the state assemblies/parliament but personal manhandling is quite unbearable and unworthy act to gain the sympathy.
No doubt, the Lokpal movement headed by the renowned social reformer Anna Hazare and Yog Guru Baba Ramdev have forced the people of this nation to fight for their due rights which have been snatc-hed by few handful politicians but they too have asked people to follow the Gandhian path of non violence to achieve the success by making the politicians realise that they should not take public a lame duck for granted . One cannot deny that our country is a cosmopolitan country and so the issues hovering over it are not as simple but multi fold ones and to address every issue in the individual manner is very difficult and almost out of question but there are certain problems which are common like food ,clothing ,shelter, access to health care facilities and education for better living .And these common things when affected due to the inflation then uproar is bound to take place and those responsible and bearing the capacity to deliver the goods for the betterment of society ,if unfortunately does not arise to the expectations of the public ,should not expect better than public outbursts in any form . Hence it is never too late to mend the fences to restore one's lost image.
