Six-member committee to submit report on SC-ST issues
Committe to be headed by Phunsong given 10 days: CM

JAMMU, JANUARY 09
The Ministers and legislators belonging to Schedule Tribe and Schedule Caste today called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad and discussed in detail various issues pertaining to schedule tribe and schedule caste.
The issue with regard to SRO-294 where under promotion quota for these categories has marginally reduced was taken up in the meeting. It was also pointed out by them that roaster points allotted to schedule tribe and schedule caste have been changed to their disadvantage.
Chief Minister was also informed that various posts for ST/SC categories which are being advertised and remain unfilled due to non-response are being changed from reserved categories to de-reserved category. They also requested the Chief Minister that backlog posts of promotion and direct recruitment earmarked for these categories may be carried forward.
Chief Minister gave patient hearing to all the demands and constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Mr. C. Phunsog. The other members are Financial Commissioner Home Mr. B. R. Kundal, Principal Secretary Higher Education Mr A. K. Aungurana, Commissioner/Secretary General Administration Department Mr. K. A. Ganai, Commissioner/ Secretary Law Department, Mr. A H, Kochak and Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare.
The committee was advised to submit their recommendation within 10 days and Chief Minister advised the committee that while making the recommendation the interests of other OBCs and backward area categories may be kept in view and their issues may also be taken up accordingly.
Chief Minister also advised the committee to make the recommendation after proper study of all the rules in vogue in different states of the country.
The Ministers and Legislators who called on the Chief Minister included Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand, Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for CAPD Mr. Taj-Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Forests Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali, Minister of State for Forests Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for CAPD Mr. Manjit Singh and legislators Mr. Mula Ram, Mr. Ghulam Raza, Dr. Chaman Lal, Mr. Yashpal Kundal, Mr. Javed Rana, Mr. P. Namgyal, Mrs. Suman Bhagat, Mr. Faquir Nath, Mr. Girdhari Lal, Mr. Nassarullah and Mr. Pintoo Narbo.
On the occasion, Chief Secretary Mr. C. Phunsog, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anil Goswami and Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare were also present.
