| MLA Doda Wani distributes solar lights and IAY cheques | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Doda Nov 26: In an awareness camp organized, today, at Ghat in Doda constituency by Rural Development, Science & Technology and Horticulture Departments, the chief guest Abdul Majid Wani distributed solar lights and IAY cheques to the beneficiaries.
A large number of people from Ghat & Gundna block, Panchs/ Sarpanchs, Chief Horticulture Officer Doda, District Officer Science & Technology, Block Development Officers alongwith other government officers were present on the occasion. MLA Doda who was chief guest on the occasion distributed 640 solar lights amounting to Rs 70 lacs among rural inhabitants from Ghat and Gundna block. 27 cheques amounting to Rs. 5.50 lacs were distributed among beneficiaries of IAY scheme in both the blocks. Approximately an amount of Rs 3 lacs was distributed to beneficiaries under various schemes of Horticulture Department.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, MLA Doda said, “A number of schemes, being undertaken by the J&K Government under flagship of Government of India, are aimed at clearing all types of barriers coming in way of overall development of the common man. Effective implementation of all government schemes is very important. He asked the administration to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach to the maximum population.
During the visit MLA Doda was apprised about that development of Wholesale Fruit & Vegetable Mandi at District Head Quarter Doda, a big land spread of 20 kanals has been acquired by the Horticulture Planning & Marketing department; which shall definitely provide relief to marketing related problems of the growers. Rural Development Department Officers were asked to ensure fool proof completion of MGNREGA works and any type of carelessness or misuse of funds shall be taken seriously.
