SKUAST-J organizes farmers training programmes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 26:Two seven days training programmes on “Scaling up of water productivity in agriculture for livelihoods through teaching cum demonstration” for farm woman and farm men were organized at village Dassal Jattan and Dassal Kesar of Rajouri district. A total of 49 farm women and 48 farm men participated in the above said training programmes. Training programmes were organized by Water Management Research Centre (WMRC), Chatha of Sher –e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu in collaboration with Regional Agriculture Research Station and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Rajouri. The programs were concluded by Er. N. K. Gupta, Nodal officer of this scheme. Addressing the farmers, Er. Gupta stressed upon water conservation, methods of water harvesting as well as judicious use of water for enhancing the productivity from agriculture and allied sectors. During the seven days of training programme experts from different disciplines viz. Crop production, Mushroom cultivation, Vermi-composting, Improved agricultural implement, Cultivation of improved tree and grass fodder, Horticulture, Vegetable production and Disease management performed teaching as well as demonstration to the farmers and farm women’s. During the training programme queries rasied by different farmers were solved by the concerned experts from Regional Agriculture Research Station and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Rajouri. On the concluding day farmers were also demonstrated practically, how to raise Dhingri cultivation and for this each farm women were given two envelopes and spawan free of cost. Beside this, farmers were also given kitchen gardening kits containing hybrid seeds of vegetables and agricultural hand tools free of cost.
