100 technocrats join PDP | Justice and equality is our slogan: Mufti | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 26: Former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayed today stressed need for peace equitable development of all the regions of the state. He was addressing a meeting of technocrats who joined PDP in his presence here today. Impressed by the policies and programmes of the party, more than a hundred technocrats- majority of them working in telecom and allied sectors today joined PDP and expressed faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. Mufti said the PDP was not after power. “We want restoration of peace”, he said. He added that PDP’s policies were formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the state. “We want to change the present system and to create new system where there would be no injustice with any section of the society”, he said, adding, “Justice and equality with all is the slogan of the party”, Mufti said his policies for restoration of peace had been endorsed by the successive governments at New Delhi be it NDA regime headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee or the present UPA government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh. Furthermore, it was result of the PDP’s policy of peace and reconciliation that a number of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) were initiated during the period of PDP-Congress coalition regime which ultimately created an atmosphere of peace and normalcy in the State. Highlighting achievements of the previous PDP-Congress regime, Mufti said that during the tenure of previous regime more than 80,000 teachers were appointed and similar number of Anganwari workers were also engaged but in total transparent manner. “We not only recruited people in transparent manner but also institutionalized the whole recruitment process so as to recruit only genuine and deserving people”, he reminded. While responding to the demand of youth, Mufti said that PDP has been demanding that locals should be given priority in employment in private sector. He assured that party would effectively take up this issue. Vivek Khajuria and Tarun Khajuria also addressed the gathering. They hailed what they called visionary policies of PDP. They regretted that present dispensation has failed to protect interests of the highly qualified youth of the state because private sector has been exploiting the local qualified youth by giving them meager salaries. “Locals are not getting priorities despite being the fact that we are competent enough to handle all posts”, he said and regretted that outsiders being called on higher wages while trained local youths, competent to hold the same positions, were ignored. Former Minister Sardar Rangil Singh, Trilok Singh Bajwa, Balbir Singh, Ved Mahajan, Murtaza Khan, Daman Bhasin, R K Bali, Ashok Jogi and other PDP leaders also spoke on the occasion.
