Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 26: Word has spread that Jai Chands are allegedly working to put an end to stringent resistance being put up by student community and scholars of Jammu region against recently announced recruitment policy of the state government.
A select group of self-styled student leaders are using administrative machinery alongwith select group of police officers and ex-university scholars close to certain local leaders of National Conference to harass those leading the protests. Youngsters are being booked over flimsy charges and released, only after they pledge not to participate in the protest and rallies being held against the recruitment policy.
The release is also subject to the approval of a select group of National Conference (NC) leaders, who have been reportedly handed over the magic lamp by Minister of State for Home. Sources said that NC oriented police officers are directly receiving requests from two ex-University scholars, one of which is a high profile leader of Youth National Conference (YNC), for arrest and release of agitating students.
Sources said that ex-JURSEA president who has been promised a job in Jammu University is leading the march against the agitating students. They added that through his colleagues and friends in Jammu University and elsewhere, he has been helping the forces working against the agitation going on across Jammu region.
Sources said that youth leaders of University wing of National Conference (NC) with the help of Jammu police are pressurizing student leaders of organizations supporting the agitation to either join them or stay away from those agitating against the policy. They added that a particular police officer of Jammu Police is going out of way to help university wing of National Conference (NC).
Sources disclosed that these leaders, who are actually stooges of the government, are making intensive efforts to get the pro-agitation leaders either arrested or humiliated. They stressed that those assurance which have been given to JURSEA leader Rakesh Chib are being given to other student leaders also.
"Those who agree become members of NCSU and those who disagree, are harassed and humiliated by police," added the leaders. They said that even the University authorities are helping the government in crushing the ongoing movement. Sources said that a particular student organization is being used to fulfill vicious and divisive agenda of the state government.
They said that former JURSEA president Rakesh Chib who was seen criticizing the new recruitment policy announced by the government and even named as prime mobilizer of students in the university overnight switched sides and is now working overtime with a particular police officer to weaken the ongoing movement.
