EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Nov 27:

Youth and children of Kathua took out a procession against the growing
drug addiction and to spread the message among the people to wage
their fight against the menace.
The procession was flagged off by the General Manager of DIC Kathua Dr
Bharat Bushan accompanied by the Rtd. DHO Som Raj, Master Shiv Nandan
and Social worker Sanjeev Verma at its beginning point at ward No 7.
On the occasion, a large number children and youth participated in the
rally with full zeal and zest along with placards to throw the light
on the dangerous and fatal consequences of the use of drugs.
The procession was taken through out the streets of ward 2, 5, 6, 7
via main market, Mukherji Chowk to Shaheedi Chowk and culminated
finally at the beginning point of the procession at Ward No 7.
Addressing the gathering, DIC GM Dr Bharat Bhushan said that drugs can
lead to a slow and painful death. He said in the beginning people take
intoxicants in order to experience the so called elated feeling but
soon the desire to have such experience again and again becomes
strong. As the frequency of these experience increases, the body
becomes habitual of consuming drugs and the person concerned becomes a
drug addict.
Further he said that these drug addicts believe the intoxicating drugs
to be the saviours of their lives but they are mistaken while the fact
is that these drugs are the killers of human conscience, physical
strength, peace of mind and even character. Social workers Master Shiv
Nadan, Rtd DHO Sh. Som Raj, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, student Sahil Chopra,
Sunil Kumar, and others said that our Kathua has been suffering from
this most fatal drugs addiction problem due to which many youth have
lost their untimely lives, and many more are addicted.
