Chib distributes cheques under IAY | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOVEMBER 27:- Minister for Medical & Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports Mr. R. S. Chib today distributed cheques worth Rs 31 lakh among 188 beneficiaries under centrally sponsored scheme Indira Awas Yojana at a function organised by the Rural Development Department at block R.S.Pura. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the government is committed to uplift the living standards of people living Below Poverty Line. He said that the Central as well as State government have launched various welfare and development schemes for socio economic empowerment of weaker sections of the society. He asked the people to come forward and avail the benefit of these programmes. Mr. Chib directed the concerned officers to launch a vigorous awareness campaign in far flung and inaccessible areas about the government schemes so that maximum people can be brought under the ambit of these schemes. He said with libral financial assistance from the union government, the State government is witnessing a discernible change in every parameter of development thus ensuring a better tomorrow to people of the state. He appealed the people to extend full cooperation to the government in its endeavour to implement the development programmes being launched by the government more effectively. The Minister said that government is committed to strengthen Panchayat Raj system in the State, adding several steps are being taken up in this regard. He said that 120 beneficiaries were provided Rs 20,000 per family for construction of houses whileas 68 BPL families were provided Rs 10,000 each for upgradation of their houses. MLA, Mr Sham Choudhary, MLA, R. S. Pura, Mr G. R .Bhagat and other rural development officers were present on the occasion.
