Sahitiya Academy New Delhi organizes literary function at J&K Academy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 27: A function was today organized by Sahitiya Academy New Delhi in the seminar Hall of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The theme of the function was to discus about short stories in Urdu. The first session was chaired by renowned Urdu Novelist and short story writer Afaq Azmi. Dr. Aziz Hajini, Convenor for Kashmir Language Sahitya Academy and Incharge of Urdu Language Sahitiya Academy, Mr. J. Pulandray were also present. On this occasion, Mr. J. Pulandray announced that Sahitiya Academy will organize Urdu literacy programmes after every three months in Kashmir Valley. He said that Sahitiya Academy is privileged to celebrate the 100th year of Urdu short stories in Kashmir Valley. Dr. Aziz Hajini urged the need to promote Urdu language that covers and caters the cultural ethos of the country. He said that the Urdu writers of Kashmir should initiate the promotion of this language. He stressed the need of inter-regional exchange of ideas in Urdu writers and urged Sahitiya Academy to arrange literary tours outside State for Urdu writers of Kashmiri. During the function short stories were read by renowned literary personality including Zeba Mehmood, Fayaz Rifat, Gazal Ziagam, Anand Lehar and Mushroof Alam Noor Shah.
