Omar lauds Centre | | | EARLY TIMES REP0RT Srinagar, Nov 27 Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has appreciated the Centre for refusing to bow to China's demand to cancel an event where Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama was scheduled to speak. "Good to see the Indian government show some spine by telling the Chinese where to get off, about time too," Omar said on micro-blogging site Twitter late last night. China had demanded that an event in New Delhi, at which the Dalai Lama was scheduled to speak on Wednesday, be cancelled. New Delhi's refusal is said to have led to the Chinese side calling off the 15th round of talks between Special Representatives (SR) of both the sides. The Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to speak at the Global Buddhist Congregation which begins tomorrow in the national capital. The Centre is believed to have told Beijing that India is a democratic country and there is no restriction on freedom of speech
