Rich tributes paid to Kotli Martyrs

JAMMU , November 27 : Martyrs of Kotli were remembered in a large gathering at Rehari colony. Professor Chaman Lal Gupta, MLA Jammu West, unveiled the statue of Kotli Martyrs at Master Devi Chand Municipal Park. This statue was built out of the CDF of Professor Chaman Lal Gupta. An expenditure of Rs 2.5 Lacs incurred for the construction.
MLA, Jammu West, Professor Chaman Lal Gupta paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kotli. He said that the nation owes a lot towards the unsung martyrs who laid their lives for the country. We must not forget the contribution of those who silently laid their lives. He said that he feels proud to be a part of this programme.
He praised Arun Khanna, President Kotli Bhawan Rehari Colony for taking such initiative in remembrance of the Kotli martyrs.
He said that such programmes should be held more frequently so that our young generation remembers the great stories of our forefathers.
Professor Chaman Lal Gupta termed it very unfortunate that the migrants from Kotli have been ignored for the past 64 years. Professor Chaman Lal Gupta assured the inhabitants of his constituency his full support and cooperation.
Jagmohan Khanna, Mangat Ram Bali, Rajeev Chuni, Dr. Krishan Lal, Madan Gupta, Bhuvnesh Gupta, Parshant Puri, Murari Lal, Krishan Lal Gupta and Ram Parkash Gupta also paid floral tributes to the martyrs.
They told the stories of the time during partition. It was the 27th day of November, 1947, when they were attacked by the Pakistani army posing as kabaylis. With tear full eyes stories of leaving their homeland were told to the present.
Arun Khanna thanked Professor Chaman Lal Gupta for his support and cooperation.
Bhuvan Gupta, the stage secretary, also thanked the present for sharing their thoughts. He said that such programmes will definitely go a long way in bringing awareness among the young ones.
