| Soz, Sham Lal snub Ashok Khajuria during Girdhari Lal Dogra's anniversary programme | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 27: Senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu West Ashok Khajuria today created an embarrassing situation for his Party at a function organized to pay tributes to former finance Minister and veteran Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra at his 24th death anniversary here today after he was snubbed by PCC chief and former Union Minister Prof Saif -ud-Din Soz and Minister of Health Sham Lal Sharma.
Khajruia, who was the lone BJP leader to attend the function organized by Girdhari Lal Memorial Trust at Dogra Chowk here today while paying tributes to late leader said that ``we should be above party politics while remembering Dogra who does not belong to any particular political party but nation as a whole.
But The BJP leader was snubbed by both Prof Soz and Sham Lal Sharma who rejected his assertion saying that late leader belonged to Congress and he was a staunch Congress man.
Rejecting the assertion of Khajuria, Sham Lal Sharma said that late leader belonged to Congress as he was associated with Party for over five decades. Supporting him his Party chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz said though after death a leader belongs to entire nation but it is a fact that Dogra was associated with Congress for 50 long years of his life and he was highly influenced by the policy programmes of party and leadership qualities of Mahatma Gandhi , Pt.Jawahar Llal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.
To add to the worries of Khajuria Soz appealed the people to strengthen the Congress Party which believes in the principle of socialism and secularism and without naming BJP he asked them to reject the fundamentalist forces who are posing a threat to the unity and integrity of the nation.
Soz while recalling the services of late leader stressed that a book be written on his role and contributions.
Khajuria could not utter a word and was looking a mute spectator during the entire programme creating an embarrassing situation for himself as well as his party.
The function was also attended by later leader's daughter and wife of senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley , Minister of Revenue and Relief, Raman Bhalla, Minister of Higher Education, R S Chib, former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma.
Earlier former Chief Minsiter and union Minister of Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah also visited the Dogra Chowk and garlanded the statue of late lead |
