Rally against drug addiction organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Nov 27: Youth and children of Kathua took out a procession against the growing drug addiction and to spread the message among the people to wage their fight against the menace. The procession was flagged off by the General Manager of DIC Kathua Dr Bharat Bushan accompanied by the Rtd. DHO Som Raj, Master Shiv Nandan and Social worker Sanjeev Verma at its beginning point at ward No 7. On the occasion, a large number children and youth participated in the rally with full zeal and zest along with placards to throw the light on the dangerous and fatal consequences of the use of drugs. The procession was taken through out the streets of ward 2, 5, 6, 7 via main market, Mukherji Chowk to Shaheedi Chowk and culminated finally at the beginning point of the procession at Ward No 7. Addressing the gathering, DIC GM Dr Bharat Bhushan said that drugs can lead to a slow and painful death. He said in the beginning people take intoxicants in order to experience the so called elated feeling but soon the desire to have such experience again and again becomes strong. As the frequency of these experience increases, the body becomes habitual of consuming drugs and the person concerned becomes a drug addict. Further he said that these drug addicts believe the intoxicating drugs to be the saviours of their lives but they are mistaken while the fact is that these drugs are the killers of human conscience, physical strength, peace of mind and even character. Social workers Master Shiv Nadan, Rtd DHO Sh. Som Raj, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, student Sahil Chopra, Sunil Kumar, and others said that our Kathua has been suffering from this most fatal drugs addiction problem due to which many youth have lost their untimely lives, and many more are addicted.
