| JKCDA condemns selection for Dogra Ratan Awards | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 28:J&K Christian Dalit Association (JKCDA), Jammu has taken strong exception to the list of persons from Jammu selected for conferring of Dogra Ratan Award by the President of India Pratibha Devi Patil, during her recent visit to the city.
A meeting of the Christian Dalit Association, held here today under the Chairmanship of S Peter strongly condemned that the list prepared by the concerned authorities for award of Dogra Ratan conveys the impression that only Hindus of Jammu region are the Dogra since all who are original inhabitants of Jammu region and feel pride to call themselves being Dogras, are conspicuously ignored.
This step by the concerned authorities to finalize the list for Award of Dogra Ratan has done great disservice to the Dogra identity as well as to the traditional communal brotherhood among all communities in Jammu. It has left a trail of heart burning among the Muslims, Christians and Sikhs of Jammu, who are as much Dogras and among whom many have distinguished themselves in fields if art, social work, gallantry and technology and who have made great contributions in making Dogri literature and Dogra culture a rich treasure.
