Public Awareness Campaign on ‘Safe Drinking Water’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 28: As part of the ongoing awareness campaign on National Rural Drinking Water Programme, the Directorate of Field Publicity Government of India, organised a one day awareness camp on safe drinking water at the Government Higher Secondary School Chinta in Bhaderwah block. In addition to the students and teachers, officials from PHE, Rural Development and Education Department were engaged in an elaborate discussion to make the people aware about the importance of safe drinking water and preservation of natural resources. On this occasion a seminar on NRDWP was also held wherein the audience were apprised about the provisions of the nation rural drinking water programme which is presently being implemented all over the state. The audience comprising students and a large number of villagers were also given useful tips on how to save water and other natural resources which are essential for human life on the earth. The participants of seminar spoke at length on how to prevent wastage of water in our daily life. The school principal H.N. Dhar, highlighted the problems of drinking water and non-availability of adequate sanitation facilities being faced by the students and staff members. Imtiaz Ahmed JE, PHE and officials from rural development promised to find out remedial measures and to sort out these problems at the earliest. Om Prakash Kotwal Sarpanch also ensured the school management to take up the matter pertaining to the boundary wall of the school on priority basis with concerned authorities. The Director of Field Publicity, J&K region, Obaidur Rahman, who was chief guest on the occasion, honoured the participants of the seminar with utility gifts. He also expressed his thanks to the local authorities for extending whole hearted co-operation to make the awareness camp a success.
