BAJ to meet on Dec 1 to chalk out future strategy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 28: Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) has decided to continue abstained from work in all Courts from November 29, 2011 to December 21, 2011 and the General House Meeting will be held on December 1, 2011 to chalk out the further course of the action. According to the Bar Association of Jammu, the diversion of quota meant for lawyers and fixation of 60 per cent as the qualifying marks for viva-voce has adversely affected the interests of the lawyers community and Bar is also highly critical of the move of the Government to take away the powers of registration of documents from Judicial Officers and conferring them upon Executive Officers. President & General Secretary Bar Association Jammu stated that on the demand of majority Bar members to continue with the ongoing protest, BAJ has decided to continue abstained from work in all Courts from November 29, 2011 to December 21, 2011 and the General House Meeting will be held on December 1, 2011 to chalk out the further course of the action. Meanwhile on second day the work of Courts in Jammu including High Court suffered due to non-appearance of Advocates as the Bar Association had given two days strike call in protest against the transfer of powers of registration of documents from Judicial Officers to Executive Officers and diversion of lawyers quota in the Higher Judicial Services (direct recruitment) for the posts of Sessions Judges.
