| Panic in Basohli village due to frequent tremors | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua Nov 28 Panic has griped the small hamlet of Manpur of Basohli in Kathua district due to the frequent tremors.
Sarpanch Vikram Singh, Jogi Raj, Khurshid Begum, Numberdar Sat Paul said that the minor tremours has become the daily routine almost every building in the area has developed cracks resulting into a fear among people. The locals of this small village even fear to remain indoors due to these tremors frequently noticed since five to six months. They said this area may be in the danger zone after the construction of Ranjeet Sagar Dam because this problem is occurring after the construction of Dam.
Even the soil sinking too have started and the famous ground of the village to have shrinked due to the sinking of the ground resulting into land sliding. besides this a ten feet wide burrow (crack) is visible near SC/ST Mohalla of the village Sbar.
The locals further added DC Kathua Zahida Khan too have visited the village to assess the situation and assured to take effective steps to protect the lives and property of the people. Now the local resident urged the Geology and Mining department conduct the soil testing and status of this area survey in this regard.
