| CITU deputation calls on Azad | | | Jammu, January 10 A deputation of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) led by Mr. M. Y. Tarigami MLA and President of its J&K State Committee called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here last evening and apprised him about various demands. Working President of the committee Mr. Javed A. Zargar and its General Secretary Mr. K. K. Bakhshi were also present. The deputationists submitted a memorandum to Mr. Azad detailing their demands. These included implementation and enforcement of labour laws, speedy disposal of industrial disputes pending in different courts for prolonged periods, re-opening of Singer India Ltd at Bari-Brahmana and bringing Diani based employer under purview of law, judicial inquiry into police firing at Banihal rail project, stoppage of police intervention into labour disputes, linkage of basic wages with price index and training to local un-employed youth for recruitment in establishments financially supported by the government and re-engagement of workers in plantation of social forestry which is profit and environment generating force, suitable amendments in Roshni ordinance and regularization of RET/RES/daily wagers working in various government establishments and water women deployed in schools.
