CPI protests price hike of essential commodities | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 28:In a demonstration held at Jinder Melu, R S Pura under the leadership of Com. Rakesh Sharma, Assistant Secretary, Communist Party of India, Jammu Regional Council, the people raised their ‘deep concern’ over the rising prices. The demonstrators said that the price rise has put great pressure on the common masses and made it difficult for them to lead day to day life in a dignified manner. Addressing the protesters, Com. Rakesh Sharma severely criticized the UPA govt. at centre led by Dr Manmohan Singh by allowing FDI in the country. He alleged that the opening of Wal Mart and other big stores will not solve the problem of abject poverty and starvation in the country rather it will increase unemployment and deprive the genuine Indian small scale industry and small traders to stand in competition with these multinational trading groups. The farmers of R S Pura tehsil have demanded supply of' proper fertilizers, Electricity Supply, Irrigation water to their fields also hike in minimum procurement price of their articles for their overall benefit. The farmers want that the Govt. should extend more subsidies to the farming sector for their overall betterment and development.
