Development of rural belts priority of govt: Dy CM

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 28 – Reiterating resolve of the government for all round development of rural belts of the state, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand said focused attention is being paid to upgrade rural infrastructure and work on number of flagship schemes is underway to develop far flung areas on modern lines.
Mr. Tara Chand was addressing a large deputation of sarpanchs, panchs and other prominent persons from Pargwal area, here today.
District Development Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Sanjeev Verma along with senior engineers and officers of line departments were present on the occasion.
Stressing on maintaining work quality, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed concerned officers to keep proper check on quality standards at site and make sure that no pilferage occurs. He said third party inspections should be undertaken and for the purpose, a testing committee under the coordination of concerned SDM and engineers from PWD, PMGSY and Irrigation was formed.
Calling for involving local representatives while prioritizing works, Mr. Tara Chand instructed for forming a ten member committee at village/ panchayat level. He directed the concerned department to organize awareness and technical training camps at site for the members so as to train them, adding that, trained manpower goes a long way in improving quality as well as maintaining time schedule of the works.
He directed the concerned Block Development Officer to hold public durbars and public requirements be given preference while formulating development projects.
While taking stock of the progress of work in Model village Pargwal, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed concerned officers to speed up the pace of work to complete the work in stipulated time frame.
A detailed review of development works undertaken in Pargwal and adjoining areas was taken and on the spot instructions were passed to the concerned officers for speedy redressal of genuine demands of people of the area.
