IIPA organizes 2nd S P Sahni Memorial Lecture | Bloeria for documentation of Sahani’s scholarly works | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOVEMBER 28: Vice Chancellor, Central University, Jammu and former Chief Secretary Dr. S. S. Bloeria today called for documentation of photographs, hand written notes and paper cuttings of late Sati Sahni to preserve his rich treasure of intellectual pursuits. Addressing at a function, organized by Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), J&K Regional branch on 2nd S. P. Sahni Memorial Lecture on Cultural Resources of Jammu and Kashmir-Mapping and Conservation, Dr. Bloeria said that 40-50 more books could be compiled if his vast written material was properly researched and utilized. Economic Advisor to J&K Mr Jalil Ahmad Khan, former DG Tourism, Saleem Beg, Director Information and Public Relations, Kh. Farooq Renzushah, Chairman, IIPA, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Mrs. Prem Sahni, Hony Secretary of IIPA, Mr. JBS Johar besides a galaxy of intellectuals, writers and academicians were present on the occasion. Dr. Bloeria said that late S. P. Sahni had wide knowledge of Indian National History post 1947. He said Sahni possessed three vital qualities that made him a prolific writer and ace photographer of the times. He said besides being disciplined, Sahni had systematic approach for preservation of old things and possessed wonderful memory. These qualities, he said helped him to evolve into a great personality in whose company one would get enlightened about minute details of socio-political and strategic developments that occurred in the wake of 1947. He said Sahni made phenomenal contribution in the visual history of the country to which he was naturally inclined to. Director, Information and Public Relations Kh. Farooq Renzushah,in his address described late Sati Sahni a great writer and a visual expert, adding his scholarly writings were considered by the government of the day in policy formulation. He said the great contribution of Sahni was his vast collection of photographs, terming them visual marvels. This treasure, he said, has caught momentous occasions of great leaders of the country like Jawahar Lal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.
