| 768 road projects sanctioned by NABARD | | | Srinagar, July 31 - NABARD has sanctioned 768 projects in the state involving an estimated cost of Rs. 1.01, 875.68 lakhs. These include 276 projects in R&B sector Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs. 29, 785 lakhs, 445 projects in R&B Kashmir involving about Rs. 65392 lakhs, 23 projects in R&B Leh at an estimated cost of Rs. 4,209.71 lakhs, and 24 projects in R&B Kargil involving an estimated expenditure of Rs. 2, 2187.85 lakhs. Government has incurred a commulative expenditure of Rs. 35,000 crores during last 3 years, of which about one third has been capital investment. This was stated by the Minister of State for R&B, Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak in reply to a question by Ms Sakina Ittoo in Legislative Council today. He said works are taken up after formulation of detailed projects and their technical scrutiny. These are then processed for accord of Administrative Approval. In case of schemes funded by NABARD or schemes taken up under CRF and PMGSY, the schemes are sponsored by the Government and are then taken up after thorough technical appraisal and formal approval of the concerned funding agencies viz, NABARD and Government of India. Schemes under District Plan are taken up after approval of the plan by the respective District Development board and allocation of funds for the purpose. Schemes under State plan are also taken up after approval of the plan and release of funds. He said Danev Tsimmer, K.B. Pora Aharbal roads had been black topped under RIDF-VII (NABARD). However, subsequently these have developed major deterioration due to heavy snowfalls during the last three years. During the current year restoration by way of open grade premix carpet in patches/stretches from Chawalgam to Nehama, Nehama to K.B.Pora and Yaroo Damhal have been completed and at present metal patching from Damhal to Tsimmer is in progress. Regarding upgradation of Khull Ahamadbad Dudhar Malwan etc., project has been submitted to NABARD for sanction, which is awaited. The work will be taken up after sanction is obtained. Committee to look into allotment of R&B works Department of Roads and Buildings had formulated 4-members committee to look into the aspects of various development works and the nature of their allotment during last three years in R&B sector. The Committee has been directed to present its report within two months. This information was given by Minsiter of state for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak in reply to a question by Mr. A. R.
