VHP, BD warn protests if AFSPA revoked | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Nov 29:Vishaw Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) have warned the state government that if any attempt to revoke Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was made, the VHP and BD would fight it tooth and nail in the form of protests. Addressing a joint press conference here today, Distt president VHP Satpal Sharma and district president BD Karan Thakur said that by any such step, state govt will clear hurdles created in the way of terrorists which in turn could again resurface the menace. They also added that intelligence agencies of different wings of security forces are informing that a large number of terrorists are waiting on the launching pads after getting training in the militant training camps on the other side of the border, but state govt is backing AFSPA removal rather than to strengthen security scenario on boundaries as well as inside the state. VHP and Bajrang Dal representatives criticised state govt on the issue that people living in J&K are facing problems due to non-availability of basic amenities while crime rate in the state is also going upward and govt has no time to pay emphasis on these important issues.
