BAJ strike enters into 4th consecutive day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 29: The work remained paralyzed in courts due to ongoing strike of Advocates across the Jammu Province which entered into its 4th day today. The lawyers completely abstaining from works in all Courts to press their rights in selection process for direct recruitment to the J&K Higher Judicial Services (sessions Judges), postponement of exams scheduled for December 4&5 2011 and also in protest against the taking away of the powers of registration from Judicial Officers to Executives Officers. According to the General Secreatry BAJ Vikram Sharma that the Bar Associations of Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Billawer, Hiranagar, Ramnagar, Kathua, Samba, R.S.Pura, Rajouri, Poonch joined the protest and abstained from appearing in Courts. The Advocates are protesting against the ill advised move of the Govt. to divest the Judicial Officer of their power of registration of documents. The Bar Associations across the Jammu Province have decided to further intensify their agitation against the Govt. and take it to a logical end till their demands are met by Govt. in toto. Meanwhile Bar Associations of different Districts and Muffasil Bars have been requested to join the meeting of the General body of Bar Association Jammu scheduled for December 1, 2011.
