Wooden sleepers worth 3 crore gutted in Doda, Kishtwar districts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Nov 29:In a mysterious fire incident on Monday, wooden sleepers of Kail, Deodar and Fur worth Rs 3 crore was gutted in Kuntwara range of State Forest Corporation (SFC) East Division Kishtwar and Jangalwar range of Thatri under SFC Bhaderwah Division. According to the reports, there is massive fire going on in forests of Doda and Kishtwar District as reports pouring in from different quarters, around 15000-16000 wooden sleepers of State Forest Corporation burnt to ashes in this fire incident. The cause of fire is yet not known, but it was believed that the major cause of the fire is the ongoing dry spells witnessed in the area since last 6 months. The senior officers of the State Forest Corporation from Jammu, Kishtwar and Doda reached the affected area, however, they faced lot of difficulties in controlling the fire since the area had no road connectivity. The reports further said that the stock which instead of transporting to Jammu and other sale deports of SFC has been dumped at the place where the incident occurred as a result of which the SFC who is already battling for its survival due to short of funds has now to bear another huge losses on account of the negligence of its some of the officials who were at the helm of the affairs at the Divisional as well as at circle level.
