Taj told to avoid personal comments on AFSPA, rotational CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 29:Senior Congress leaders, loyal to PCC Chief Saif-ud-Din Soz, have conveyed their apprehensions to the party high command that if the dissidents besides the high profile cabinet Minister Taj Mohi-ud-din were not bridled as far as their pro- National Conference activities were concerned the state unit of the Congress could face a situation which could be similar to the one faced by the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. Party sources said that a number of Congress leaders, including some legislators and ministers, had conveyed their deep displeasure over the recent utterances of Taj Mohi-ud-din which supported Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah's stand on various political issues and that were clearly opposed to the stand taken by the Congress. Inside reports said that on the basis of the complaint of the loyalists the party high command has asked Taj Mohi-ud-din to avoid playing a role that could weaken the Congress in the state. In this respect Taj Mohi-ud-din has been told that he need not try to overshadow the importance of the PCC Chief and if the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has to consult the Congress he should talk to Soz or the Congress ministers. The party high command is said to have conveyed to Taj Mohi-ud-din that if Omar Abdullah informs Taj about his new plan or policy it does not mean that the Chief Minister had consulted the Congress. Taj, according to reports, has been told that as far as revocation of the AFSPA from some areas was concerned the issue would have to be decided only after a green signal from the Ministry of Defence and the top Army functionaries. Hence Taj has been advised to avoid expressing his personal views on this issue and the issue of rotational chief ministership.
