JKNPP terms FDI a conspiracy to colonize national economy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 29:Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Prof. Bhim Singh has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to act boldly and daringly saying no to western conspiracy to colonize Indian economy under the new pretext in the name of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) which in fact is fraud on the development of India. He said that millions of people below the poverty line or on the poverty line earning livelihood for their families by running dhabas, community stores, reharies etc. shall be thrown out of their self-created jobs if the impending disaster called FDI is allowed to take place. Singh said so-called 51% of investment by Indians shall remain in the control of those holding illicit and black money. The JKNPP Chief has given a call to the students in the universities, colleges and other educational institutions as well as to the unemployed youth to forge a ‘National Youth Alliance’ for the protection of their ‘economic and political interest’ which stands threatened under the present so-called globalization. Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the Secretariat held in Jammu under the Chairmanship of Harsh Dev Singh, Leader of the Legislature Party and Working Chairman, unanimously condemned FDI and demanded its roll back without delay. JKNPP described the decision as highly illogical, irrational and prejudicial to the interests of Indian traders particularly the small and marginal retailers as well as the consumers. Party leaders said that the very idea of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) was ill-conceived not inexorable as the marginal Indian trader would be pitted against powerful MNCs. How could the small traders survive in the face of competition posed by powerful Multinational Companies. The decision is opposed to the interest of the common man. They strongly condemned the disinformation campaign launched by the votaries of FDI and contested their claims that the entry of FDI in retail sector would remove the ills afflicting the Indian economy and promote the interests of traders, farmers and the un-employed.
