Home Guards hold dharna protest | Ask govt to fulfil demands | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 29:A "dharna protest" was organized in front of Press Club, Jammu by the ‘aggrieved’ jawans of J&K Home Guards under the banner of J&K Home Guards Welfare Association and presidentship of Kamla Sharma who flayed the Central as well as the State Government for not paying heed towards their genuine demands. She questioned the working of the state government which is drumbeating its performance of last three years. Kamla Sharma said that it could not provide justice even to the protesting Home Guards, what to say of the other achievements. People from different walks of life joined today's dharna; even many leaders and workers of different political parties and organizations joined hands with the Home Guards to get their woes resolved. Leaders of J&K People's Democratic Front, JD-U, members of J&K Rural Women Foundation (NGO), J&K Freedom Fighter Association, Jai Hind Forum joined the Dharna and asked the state government to resolve the issues of Home Guards. General Secretary of J&K People's Democratic Front (PDF) Bhushan Lal Gupta said their party would not tolerate injustice at any level and asked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to come on the ground to ascertain the plight of the Home Guards and give justice to them. Speaking on the occasion, Inder Mohinder Singh Tar State President JD-U, said that the state government have deployed Punjab Police at vital point and was paying huge TA & DA to them, why the home guards were not utilized for the same and why they were not given appropriate salaries.
