Ambitious development projects to equip urban centers with modern infrastructure: Dy CM

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 29 – Flagging JNNURM as an ambitious program, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand said mega urban development projects have been undertaken in the mission and the same would equip towns and cities of the state with required modern infrastructure.
He said under the centrally sponsored mission major infrastructure development projects have been launched all across the state and would go a long way in meeting urban requirements of towns and urban centers.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this while chairing a high level review meeting of Housing and Urban Development Department, here today.
Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, Home, Tourism and Revenue and Relief Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani was present during the meeting.
Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department Mr. Suresh Kumar, Special Secretary, H&UDD Mr. K.L. Khajuria, Director, Local Bodies, Srinagar, Jammu, Commissioner, JMC, SMC, Vice-Chairman, JDA, SDA and other senior officers and engineers attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on the pace and progress of various development projects undertaken by the department.
While reviewing the achievements of the departments, Mr. Tara Chand said maximum benefit can be only be reaped when undertaken works are completed within the stipulated time frame and calendar for the works is strictly adhered too. He cautioned the officers that no laxity would be tolerated, as the mission project is time bound and all the projects have to be ready within the set time frame.
The Deputy Chief Minister said under the mission project special provisions have been kept for urban poor, adding that besides giving financial assistance for reconstruction of depleted houses, new housing facilities are also being developed for the poor inhabitants.
Calling upon officers to work with zeal and dedication, Mr. Wani said sufficient funds have been made available under the mission and their proper utilization would create durable assets for the state.
