Journos to observe "Black Day"
11/30/2011 12:01:31 AM
Early Times Report
NEW DELHI, Nov 29: Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) will observe Black Day on 2nd December to protest against moves to scuttle the Wage Board for journalist and non-journalists, and concerted moves to kill the Working Journalists Act. The black day will also spot light increasing attack on journalists in sensitive areas and moves by J&K state governments to withdraw advertisements to select news papers.
The black day will be followed by solidarity rally day with the Confederation of Newspapers and News Agency Employees Federation.
An action committee of the DUJ, Press Unity Centre Delhi, and various bodies in Delhi is being finalised, the DUJ added.
A statement by the DUJ General Secretary SK Pande called upon members to be ready for a phased action plan, with full support to all Confederation plans.
The "Black Day" will be the first action plan which could culminate in a March to Parliament in co-ordination with the Confederation, the DUJ said.
