Army rescues Sumo driver in Tanghdar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNS): Army rescued a driver of a burning Sumo in Chhamkot, Tanghdar area of north Kashmir’s frontier district of Kupwara. “On November 25 a Sumo (JK 01 P 6055) was parked near the main gate of Chhamkot Army Camp. Gulam Nabi, 30, of village Tad, was seen smoking inside his veicle. Suddenly, the vehicle was seen bursting into flames. Prahlad Singh Chauhan who was on duty at the unit main gate dashed to the blazing Sumo and pulled out Gulam Nabi, who suffered serious burn injuries,” a defence communiqué said. “Due to the prompt reaction of the fire fighting parties of Chhamkot Battalion the fire was doused in minutes and the Sumo was saved from being totally gutted. The driver was given first aid by Captain Jitendra Kumar, Medical Officer of Chamkot Camp and evacuated to Sub Divisional Hospital Tangdhar,” the statement added.
