BJP loyalists appeal to Assembly speaker to act fast | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 30:Loyalists in the state unit of the BJP are worried over the delay on part of the Speaker of the Assembly in deciding about the fate and future of the seven MLAs who had been thrown out of the party. BJP sources said that the party unit has been faced with uncertainty following the cross voting issue that had rocked the party in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that it took a long time for the party high command to initiate action against those who had indulged in cross voting. And now the delay on the part of the Assembly Speaker in deciding whether the MLAs, thrown out of the party, deserved disqualification or not. However, Assembly sources said that the Speaker's task is not as easy as the loyalists wish to believe. They said that first of all the Speaker has to satisfy himself whether the seven MLAs thrown out of the party had indulged in cross voting or not. Secondly the issue of Jugal Kishore's installation as leader of the BJP group in the Assembly is yet to be settled. Unless it is not settled it cannot be decided whether Jugal Kishore is authorized to recommend disqualification of the seven MLAs or not. These very two issues seem to have perturbed the loyalists in the BJP who believe that further delay could lead to added confusion which has the potential of causing erosion in the organization. They have appealed to the Speaker to act fast.
