| Pranab Mukherjee should not miss opportunity to reveal SNAP in Pakistan: Hakeem | | | Jammu, January 10 Saying that Foreign Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee should not miss opportunity to reveal SNAP in Pakistan during his talks, Chairman PDF and Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said today that peace initiative between India and Pakistan is not a new concept but it was launched some 40 years earlier when Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and General Ayub Khan Parleys (SNAP) took place. He said during the period of Mrs. Indira Gandhi further initiative in this direction was taken when dialogue process was carried forward between the then Foreign Ministers of two countries, S. Swaran Singh and Mr. Z. A. Bhutto. Stating this here on the sidelines of legislature business, while talking to media persons, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said “it is most important and imperative to make public the parleys and work out solution of all issues making these blue-print of strategy.” Mr. Yaseen said instead of beating about the bush and working on the borrowed and other proposals put-forth by many opinion leaders it is better to go through the progress made during the above said parleys and provide a platform to address the issue on which much work has already been done in the past. He said Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a saga of disturbance, violence and political ups and downs during last 58 years. “The ad-hoc nature of approach to the issue would not take us anywhere”, he added. Mr. Yaseen said that atmosphere at present is most conducive and the leadership of both the countries is open minded to discuss anything and everything on table and strive for cultivating peace and tranquility in the sub-continent which has otherwise witnessed volatile scenario during the past resulting in conflicts, wars and hatred. “Let friendship and love be given a chance to flourish and development ruling the roost”, Hakeem maintained. He said instead of making different and conflicting approach to address the problem it would be the highest wisdom to pool the think-tank and get advantage of parleys and dialogues which have taken place earlier between the leadership of India, Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir.
