EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 30:The National Secular Forum (NSF) urged the four-member inquiry committee, probing the irregularities in University of Jammu (JU), to expeditiously submit its report for action without delay.
Addressing a press conference here today, NSF president Vikas Sharma urged the four-member inquiry committee to expeditiously complete the probe within day and submit its report to the State Government, so that action be taken against Sahni if found guilty of misusing the official. Varun Sahni has caused extensive damage to the University during the last three years and doesn't deserve more time to further deteriorate campus, he added.
NSF president Vikas Sharma also said "JU administration has turned the institution as near defunct. The money of students is being spent blindly. The administrative expenditure has increased from Rs 1.41 crore to 2.86 crore whereas, official expenses have risen from 1 crore to 1.29 crore. Also, electricity bill has increased from 80 lakhs to 1.18 crore."
Similarly, the expenses on vehicles have increased from Rs 15 lakhs to 19 lakhs. This is beyond imagination that these expenditures have raised in a span of one year. Vice Chancellor must explain as to why expenses have risen. The administration must give itemized report in this regard. On the other side, the scholarship bill has decreased from 1.41 crore to 1.13 crore. Similarly, the expenditure on books has also dipped from 76 lakhs to 44 lakhs. It means University is spending more on comfort of officers and teachers whereas; the student community is made to suffer. As an outcome of which the state government has not granted him extension so far. We appeal the Chief Minister and the Governor to take the notice of resentment against VC and oust him on his schedule time. However, he asked the 4-member high level inquiry committee to complete its probe within day possible. "The committee must submit its report to the Governor within day so that Government could take action against the culprits who misappropriated University money and resources.
