Div Com convenes meeting to expedite ESM colony

Jammu, Nov 30: A special meeting of the Jammu division revenue officers was held in the office of the Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal to discuss in detail and thrash out various irritants that were causing delay in the acquisition of land for the Ex-servicemen Welfare Housing colony being processed by the Jammu and Kashmir Ex Services League (JKESL). The main hurdles that were coming in the way of finalisation of land acquisition of land for Kargil Vihar Colony at Village Baran in Distt Jammu related to the passage of HT cable being laid by the PHE department that has been proposed over the colony and overcasts a large chunk of land that cannot be habitated due to the risk of overhead HT cable.
There is also a portion of some five kanal land that is marked in revenue records as a disused graveyard of pre independence era.
However under instigation of some land mafia and mischievous elements an objection was projected through the Auqaf department claiming a much larger chunk of land as per the JKESL officers.
The meeting was attended by DDC Jammu, Officers of the PDD, Auqaf , Revenue department as also by President JKESL Maj Gen G.S Jamwal, VSM ex MLC assisted by his team of officers comprising Col K.S Jamwal and their revenue matters in charge Ex Asst Commissioner (Rev) Fazal Rehman Javed.
The Divisional commissioner after hearing all parties constituted a committee to go into the details of grand realities and submit a report within six days so that an amicable solution is found to resolve various issues that were involved.
The President JKESL apprised that anxious members including widows are getting restless. They assembled at the office of Welfare Housing Organisation of JKESL at Digyana and raised slogans against the inordinate delay, accusing the government of anti-armed forces policies and cannot be held back from strong agitation for long.
