Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 30: Semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing inter-college women's volleyball tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here today. Teams making it to the last four stages included Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, GCW Parade, Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua and combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played on January two, the title holders, PG Departments shall take on GDC Kathua. Last year's runners-up, GCW Gandhi Nagar shall lock horns against arch rivals, GCW Parade. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, played today, GCW Gandhi Nagar defeated GDC Ramnagar in straight sets of 25-23, 25-14, 25-13 while GDC Parade trounced GDC Poonch 3-2 in a close contest. The score: 25-22, 24-26, 25-22, 23-25, 15-07. In another quarterfinal game, GDC Kathua trounced GDC Samba 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 25-13). However, the PG Departments reached the semi-finals getting walkovers in the preliminary rounds. Today's quarterfinals were officiated by Shahi Sharma, Pt. Mulkh Raj, Naresh and Dr Rajinder.
