Ishar XI thrashes Warriors by 54 runs in Champions Trophy

JAMMU, Nov 30: A brilliant partnership of 81 runs between Atul Sharma and Sohail helped Ishar XI to thrash Warriors Cricket Club by a big margin of 54 runs in the ongoing Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Simula Cricket Club at MA Stadium, here today. Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Ishar XI posted a formidable total of 181 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sohail played a power-packed innings of 68 runs in 44 balls including 10 fours, while their batting mainstay, Atul Sharma hit 43 runs including nine boundaries. Arshad (17), Sandy (14) and Muddasir (13) were the other notable contributors. For Ishar XI, Neeraj bagged 2 wickets, while Bunty, Kabir and Vijay claimed one wicket apiece. In reply, Warriors batsmen struggled against the new ball bowling duo of Vishal and Prince of Ishar XI, who shared 5 wickets between themselves and restricted them at 46 for 4 in 8.3 overs at one point of time, however, the team managed to score 127/7 in 20 overs, thus lost the match by 54 runs. Neeraj was the top scorer with 37 runs, while Javed, Abdul and Kala scored (16), (13) and (11) runs respectively. For Ishar XI, speedster Vishal was the wrecker-in-chief, scalping 3 important wickets in his four overs by giving away 32 runs, while Prince took 2/16 in his 3 overs. Youngster Pavit Singh and Muddasir also claimed one wicket each. Sohail was declared man of the match for his decent knock of 68 runs. Tomorrow's fixture: Strikers XI V/S Lions Cricket Club at 10am
