EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 30: The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in association with the Centre for History and Culture of Jammu & Ladakh Regions, organized one day festival of Dogri Folk Dances – “duggar darshan” in collaboration with the Unison Cultural Group (A Project under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India). Varun Sahni, Esteemed Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest and Sylvia.A.Sahni, was the Guest of Honour on this occasion. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu delivered the welcome address O.P. Mauji and Dileep Kumar, introduced to the audience nine different Folk Music and Traditional dances that includes “Folk Dance – Kud”, “Folk Dance – Gitru”, “Folk Dance – Jagrana”, “Folk Song – Bhakh”, “Punjabi Folk Song”, “Folk Song – Suhag/Ghoria”, “Harna Folk Dance”, “Dogri Song and “Folk Style of Dogri – Jatter”. This was an endeavour to showcase the rich culture of the Jammu region and develop a sense of appreciation amongst the younger generation. The programme was conducted by Vinay Thusoo, Public Relations Officer. The vote of thanks was delivered by Jasbir Singh, Chairman,Campus Cultural Committee. Among others Anita Billawaria, director, Centre for History and Culture of Jammu & Ladakh Regions, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Neelu Rohmetra, Director,The Business School, Shailendra Singh, Associate Dean (SW), Anupama Vohra, Jatinder Khajuria, Joint Registrar, CDC, Romesh Chander Pappu, Director, Unison Cultural Group, members of the Campus Cultural Committee, Faculty members, officers, scholars and students, were present on this occasion.
