Jammu, Nov 30: JAMMU, Nov 29: More loyal than the King! Much to the surprise of even the party loyalists of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, an ambitious cabinet minister of Congress today spread the word across the state about the expansion in the state cabinet and New Delhi's refusal to accept the demand for rotational Chief Ministership.
Sources said that the ambitious Congress minister after having failed to cultivate a group of MLAs and MLCs in Congress to support his candidature for being projected as the Chief Ministerial choice whenever the issue of rotational CM comes up, ahead of JKPCC President Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad has begun functioning as head of one man Congress.
The said minister, according to reliable sources, has been claiming of having direct access to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. The same can be inferred from his statement in which he claims to have discussed the issue of rotational Chief Ministership as well as cabinet expansion with the high command in New Delhi recently.
"I discussed the issue with the high command in New Delhi recently. There is possibility of expansion and reshuffle. But a final decision has been taken that there would be no rotational Chief Minister after January 2012. Congress would stand by its agreement and Omar will complete his six year term," claims the said cabinet minister.
He has further claimed that infighting in the state Congress was responsible for delay in cabinet expansion. "But now the issue has been sorted out by Congress high command," the said cabinet ministers has said. Sources revealed that after outburst of close aide of State Congress President Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz against the said cabinet minister that the latter was going against the party wishes on rotational CM issue, the minister had sent a letter to the party high command.
In his letter dated October 31, he had purportedly explained his position to the party high command. The said cabinet has stated that party high command including Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad wrote back to him assuring that the party stand was in conformity with his stance on rotational CM issue. The said minister was the first to say that there would be no rotational CM after January 2012, as the Congress high command has made an agreement with Omar for full six years.
Another Congress, who is regarded close to Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad, has been reportedly revealing even names of the MLAs and MLCs who are likely to be made ministers. According to him, sources said that he has been told that former PWD minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammed Saroori, MLA Bhaderwah Mohammad Sharief Niaz and MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, are likely to get ministerial berths. Saroori is also trying hard to make a comeback.
The same minister has revived hopes of rebel NC ex-additional General Secretary and MLA Hazratbal Dr. Mustafa Kamaal of becoming a cabinet minister. NC MLAs from Kupwara district Choudhary Ramzan and Mir Saif-ullah alongwith MLA Kishtwar, Sajjad Kitchloo have also been named by the said congress leader, whose names are being considered.
Sources disclosed that party high command has already taken strong notice of the activities of the said cabinet minister and congress leader. They have said that action would be taken against them for anti-party and pro-NC activities. They maintained that the two have been issuing statements on issues which are to be decided by the party high command.
