12/1/2011 10:00:41 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 01: Tehsil Thathri Development Front, president Kuldeep Kumar Rao has appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to direct immediate inauguration of the newly constructed Kahara-Jai road in the tehsil to make it functional for plying of traffic.

Addressing a meeting of the members, Rao has also appealed the MoS Roads and Building and Transport Minister to consider the plea as people are keenly waiting for the inauguration of the road to end their hardships faced by them.

“13 km road is complete up to Halaran but the same has not been thrown open for the traffic due to the delay in inauguration of the Bridge over Kahara river and it should be thrown open soon”, he said.

Rao has further appealed the transport minister allot two buses from Jammu to Halaran for the ease of passengers. “Moreover an appropriate number of minibuses be also sanctioned and the fares fixed in the areas to put curb on the vehicles owners who are charging at will”, he said.

Front has alleged that at present Tata Sumo operators are charging exorbitant rates from Thathri to Kahara which vary from Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 per passenger while minibus operators charge only Rs.10 per passenger. Rao alleged that in absence of appropriate number of buses and minibuses, the people are forced to pay higher fares.

Front has demanded that the public be saved from the exploitation let loose by ‘unscrupulous Tata Sumo operators’ by providing appropriate number of buses and minibuses and also by fixing the fares of the Sumos.

Rao has further appealed the government to intervene personally in the survey of Kahara-Jai road beyond Halaran to Jai and X-en R&B Gandoh, X-en PMGSY concerned area should be instructed to construct the road beyond Halaran as instructed by MLA Bhadarwah constituency, M.S. Niaz.
