| Tarigami lauds Prime Minister for carrying forward dialogue process | | Discussion on Thanks Motion | | Jammu, January 10 Initiating the discussion on Thanks to Governor’s Address in LA today Mr. Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami lauded the role of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for taking positive steps in resolving all issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir and carrying forward the process of dialogue. He suggested for taking more initiatives in this direction and said that creation of peace and friendly atmosphere in the subcontinent is the desire of everyone. He appealed all political parties to shun their differences and help in resolving all issues relating to J&K through consensus. Referring to the security scenario in the state he said that with the improvement of situation, extraordinary powers of security forces need to be gradually reduced and every measure taken to uphold human rights for which he suggested new initiatives. Mr. Tarigami referred to the measures taken by the government to curb corruption and said that working of Accountability Commission should also be strengthened so that the purpose for which it has been established is realized. Appreciating preponing of budget session Mr. Tarigami called for timely release of funds so that development works do not suffer for want money. Continuing his speech on the 2nd day from the point he had stopped yesterday on account of adjournment of the House, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Naik highlighted the economic importance of horticulture in the valley especially in Wachi constituency and called for earnest measures by the government to further strengthen this sector. While expressing his viewpoint Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a saga of political ups and downs and his party tried to resolve the tension through dialogue. He forecast bright future for the state and said that Jammu and Kashmir is going to be trade hub with the opening of links across LoC and borders. He said Coalition government has already made possible a turn around in this direction. Highlighting significant achievements of the government Mr. Veeri referred opening up of 22 new degree colleges, some universities, provision of employment to 70,000 people, launching of new power projects, creation of new districts and many more steps taken in the field of horticulture, agriculture, industries and other sectors. He also appreciated reduction in Human Rights violations with the earnest efforts of Coalition government. Mr. Veeri also stressed for regularizations of adhoc and contractual employees after completion of 5-7 years. Dr. Mustafa Kamal put forth his viewpoint regarding preponing of budget session. He stressed for providing details about the distribution of money to earthquake sufferers and laid stress on curbing corruption and nepotism with heavy hands. He also demanded upgrading functioning of SKIMS Srinagar and strengthening the prestigious institution. Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar said that people have given mandate to his party to sit in opposition and same role is being played seriously by the party. He pointed out various aspects of economic development, employment generation, filling up of vacancies and human rights calling government’s attention towards these aspects. Participating in the discussion Mr. G.M. Saroori gave full credit to government for managing liberal funds from centre for boosting infrastructure in every sector in the state. He said with the serious efforts of Mr. Azad Centre Government has agreed in principle to transfer some Power Projects to the state, with this the power scenario in the state would substantially changed. Describing implementation of Wazir Commission as a landmark achievement in the J&K history Mr. Saroori said that Azad led government created 8 districts, 3 sub-divisions and 13 tehsils which would go a long way in giving fillip to development process of these areas besides helping in speedy redressal of grievances of common masses. He appreciated constitution of five working groups and said that their deliberations and recommendations would help in a big way to address the issues and redress the grievances of people on many accounts. Mr. Shyam Lal appreciated the government for doing the job of narrowing down the differences between India and Pakistan thereby resulting in building up many CBMs for resolving all issues, Suchetgarh-Sialkote road will give considerable fillip to the trade activity. He further said that like “land to tiller” Roshni Act will be remembered as a land mark in the history of the state. Mr. Jugal Kishore (BJP) said that government should take further steps to do arrest corruption and nepotism. Mr. Mushtaq Bukhari stressed the need for giving ST status to Pahari speaking people. He also demanded Hill Development Council Status to Poonch and Rajouri. Smt. Kanta Andotra appreciated the government for conducting the budget session ahead of time and said that it would prevent the agencies from making hasty execution of works. Mrs. Shanti Devi hailing the initiatives of present government for a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir said that it has registered marvelous achievements under all sectors during the last four years. Dr. Chaman Lal said that the work on the newly created Degree College complex at Ramban be taken up for which the foundation stone has been laid nearly two years ago. He also demanded for introducing all subject in the said college. Mr. Mula Ram said that the present government has created heads of departments for various departments at divisional level to facilitate the people. He suggested for strengthening the cooperative movement in the state. Mr. Abdul Gaffar Sofi said that peace and development have been carried forward all along adding that funds under rural development sector be earmarked under state sector to speed up the execution of works. Mr. Usman Majid lauding the initiatives taken for peace process and Confidence Building Measures said that those who have remained out of the context of the dialogue process should be brought under its ambit so as to put their viewpoint for deliberations.
