| Police busts car lifters gang | | 53 four wheelers, 63 motorcycles recovered: SSP City | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Dec 1 (KNS): Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of notorious car and motorbike lifters and recovered 53 stolen cars and 63 motorcycles from them.
Addressing a press conference at Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station, SSP City, Ashiq Bukhari said, “Multiple gangs of car lifters and burglars that were active in Srinagar city for the last few months, have been busted. 53 stolen vehicles and 63 motorcycles worth Rs. 2,66,00,000 have been recovered from thyem. In addition, mobile phones, grocery items and gold worth Rs. 3,00,000 have also been recovered.”
The SSP identified the accused as Bashir Ahmad Sheik of Washbugh, Pulwama, Shabir Ahmad Mir of Dardpora, Kupwara, Abdul Rashid of Dobgah Sopore, Abdul Rashid of Arihal, Pulwama and Showkat Ahmad Shah of Kupwara.
“However, some of their accomplices Waseem Ahmad Sheikh of Dubgah, Sopore, Mehraj Din Parray of Sumbal and Idrees Ahmad Mir of Litter Pulwama are still at large,” the SSP said.
The Police also announced a reward regarding their information, “If any person has any information regarding them and will inform the police about their whereabouts will be suitably rewarded,” Bukari announced.
Police East Zone, Srinagar was also able to recover 17 four wheelers which included five Maruti vans, six Maruti cars, four Alto cars, rickshaws, one Tavera and 42 motor bikes and effecting total recovery.
“Police Station Kralkhud has been able to solve all the cases registered in police station Kralkhud with regard to burglary and M.V theft and has been recovered the stolen property in full,” a police statement said.
Hazratbal zone has been able to recover six four wheelers which includes one Ascent, one Santro, one Maruti Car, two Alto cars and one Bolero and six motorcycles.
Similalry South Zone has been able to solve 13 cases and has recovered 11 vehicles which includes three Tata Sumo, four Maruti cars, one Gypsy, one Tata Mobile, two trucks, six motorcycles and golden ornaments.
West zone, Srinagar has solved 05 cases and has recovered 15 vehicles which include four Maruti cars, one Maruti Van, one Alto car, one Auto rickshaw, one Tempo Traveler, three Tata Sumo, two others and nine motorcycles.
