EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu 1 Dec: Akel Rang Utsav-2011, organised by Nav Durga Kala Manch by Aaditya Bhanu, director NDKM at Performing Art Studio, Tangewali Gali, Kachi Chowni, Jammu. The festival comprises of 3 solo plays which would be performed everyday under the title ‘Actors Speak @ Daily Soap’.
Today’s play entitled “ Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana Do” is a deep philosophical journey of a child whose cravings for writing the Poetry and go Rabinder Nath Tagore is broken when his poor father working in a brick kiln meets with an accident and turned bed ridden.
The boy who used to go to school and recite his poetry to everybody’s acknowledgement has to leave the school and take place of his father’s work to earn the livelihood.In the process, his poetry too stars vanishing as there is no taker for his work that slowly and steadily vanishes and he too loses his art and life in the working of the brick kiln. The story idea of the play is just a reflection to the society that there are many Rabinder Nath Tagores and other in the society who could not make up to their destinations due to manifold reasons that destiny and life plays with them. The story written by Mohan Bhandari, translated in Hindi by Phool Chand ‘Manav’ was dramatized, designed, Acted and directed by Lucky Gupta.
The artists who performed in the play include Lucky Gupta who enacted the central character of Budhu Kumar gathered great applause from the select audience present on the occasion and did justice to his role. Lights were handled by Dilshad Shazi while music was executed by Tarun Sharma, make-up by Reetu Manhas.
Costumes and sets were managed by Farah Khan and Nishat Khan, Production Controlled by Anil Kotwal and assisted by Prithvi Sharma.
Tomorrow, Saadat Hasan Manto’s most popular story “Toba Tek Singh” would be performed in the form of solo play at same venue at 5.30 pm
