Chamkor slams blitzkrieg ton as Lions crush Strikers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTR JAMMU, Dec 1: Chamkor Singh slammed a swashbuckling century (100*) to guide Lions Cricket Club to a huge 10-wicket win over Strikers XI in the ongoing Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Simula Cricket Club at MA Stadium, here. Chasing a target of 139 runs set by Strikers XI, Lions Cricket Club sailed on a thunderous century by Chamkor Singh and his unbeaten partnership of 140 runs with his opening partner Ajay (31*) and achieved it in 16.3 overs, thus won the match by 10 wickets. Chamkor sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt and tore them to all parts of the ground with immense power and utmost timing. He hit seventeen magnificent boundaries and one huge six in his 54-ball power-packed knock in which elegance, grace and fluidity was delight to watch. Other opener Ajay scored unbeaten 31 runs including four boundaries. None of the bowlers from Strikers XI could make any impression as both the Lions openers were in supreme touch. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Strikers XI made 138 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sandy was the top scorer with 45 runs, hitting six fours and one six, while Nasir (34) and Mushtaq (23) were other notable contributors. Bansi Lal was the pick of the bowlers for Lions Club, who scalped three wickets by giving away 16 runs in his four overs, while Chamkor, Hardeep Singh and Sahil Singh claimed one wicket apiece. Chamkor was adjudged man of the match for his fabulous ton. The match was officiated by Sohail and Vijay as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma and Rakesh Kumar maintained the scorebook.
